Call for Papers

^ return to Technical Sessions and Workshops

The Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute invites you to participate in the symposium, Science and Stewardship to Protect and Sustain Wilderness Values. Posters are solicited under the following general topics:

  • Traditional and Ecological Values of Nature

  • The Role of Science, Education and Collaborative Planning in Wilderness Protection

  • Protection of Coastal/Marine and River/Lake Ecosystems

  • Personal and Societal Values of Wilderness: Recreation, Tourism and Personal Growth

The symposium will be structured to enhance international and intercultural communication, and will integrate poster discussion presentations into the above select topical sessions to increase one-on-one dialogue. We hope you will consider submitting an abstract (500 words or less) and joining us in Port Elizabeth, South Africa next November. The extended deadline for submittal of abstracts for poster presentations has been extended to July 15th.

All accepted posters received in response to this extended call, will be compiled and published in a Congress Proceedings by the USDA Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station, Fort Collins, Colorado (USA). If you are interested in receiving a copy, please let us know. We look forward to seeing you in Port Elizabeth!
