NEW Programme, 22 October
The 7th WWC has numerous
program components that catalyze the skills and perspectives of
the wide diversity of delegates toward achieving the
conservation objectives of the Congress. The WWC is dedicated to
both expanding context and information, as well as stimulating
action and results.
WORLD WILDERNESS SUMMIT
(2-3 November)
Two days of plenary sessions, with global wilderness and sustainability issues addressed by experts and practitioners from different perspectives, professions and nations. The
Cultural Program each evening is set in a backdrop and artistic milieu that emphasizes the international
importance of wilderness within a regional African context.

WILDERNESS WORKING SESSIONS
(5-8 November)
The delegates meet in plenary sessions in the morning primarily for discussion-oriented presentations and panels. Immediately after lunch delegates break out into
TECHNICAL SESSIONS and
WORKSHOPS. Following these working sessions, and before dinner, will be the
OPEN COUNCIL, a forum for sharing insights and issues. Every evening the
CULTURAL PROGRAM consists of music, films, and social gatherings that emphasize the arts and humanities of wilderness local communities, in traditional and contemporary settings.
SUNDAY FIELD TRIPS
(4 November)
We pause for one day and everyone gets out into the field, choosing from a wide range of
Day trips or activities that introduce the delegates to the wildlife,
wildlands, local communities and cultures of the Eastern Cape. Very little "program" occurs this day, except meetings of some of the official political working groups (they miss the field trips!) such as that of Global Legislators Organisation for a Balanced Environment (GLOBE).
