WHEREAS,

The German Nature Conservation Act is presently revised under Doc.-NR 14/6378 dated 14 September 2001-11-13

The draft revision does include that wilderness should be preserved in its own right ("eigenwert der wildnis an sich")

The draft does not address yet wilderness areas as defined by IUCN, such as Wilderness Area, Category 1b

THEREFORE, the 7^th World Wilderness Congress hereby

RESOLVES, that

The protection of the intrinsic values of wilderness "in its own right" (Eigenwert der Natur) not be deleted in the final document. The wording of the draft (see 14/6378) should stand without amendment. Further, the final wording should include reference to Wilderness Area Category (e.g.1b) as defined by World Conservation Union (IUCN).
