Three Crises facing Mankind

WHEREAS,

We cannot ignore wood hunger, food hunger and energy crisis linked with Human Population numbers; the fact remains that we shall all be facing it in the first half of next millenium;

The 6^th World Wilderness Congress hereby resolves that:

• The population issue has been discussed in the second half of the 20^th Century in vain, and urges the decision-makers, nature lovers and NGOs to launch constructive endeavors/crusades to overcome the alarming threat facing mankind to achieve a ‘sustainable future’, for alleviating human suffering, and to thereby serve the cause of wilderness;
• Keeping in view the concepts of the Wilderness Congress, it is desirable to curb population pressures in the environs of the wilderness areas/Protected Areas, to achieve a ‘lasting’ future in the next millenium.
